    AUE Interior Design Exhibition

    A creativity filled exhibition with the best from the College of Design

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates: American University in the Emirates came out with their biggest innovative design exhibition from the students of College of Design. In the presence of Prof. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the Emirates, Dr. Arafat Al Naim, Dr.Chadi Chamoon and respected faculty members and students.

    Prof. Muthanna laid importance for the need to host such exhibitions that bring into the limelight the talents of students and the unique artistic aspect of their work and projects. “Art is one of the greatest talent, and art has no boundaries. It is not only a hobby, it is a blessing in addition to being a passion for many of our students.” he said. “The focus on design is one such course that requires creativity and perseverance. And I believe this is a characteristic of all human beings at birth. ” he added.

    The exhibition saw an increased student participation. With many designs and projects, the variety of talent showcased was outstanding. Every student had a deep thought behind the projects. Speaking to one of the participating students Angham Attia who expressed her delight at being a student at the American University in the Emirates. She also seemed keen about the university and it’s motivational policies that highlight students’ works and inspires them to express their creativity. Angham named her project “Child Development Center” as her main purpose was to create and design a space for children and their activities. The project included a place dedicated to drawing and creativity, and another to express to house and grow them intellectually. Inspired by the sounds of her baby and nature, she translated into three-dimensional designs characterized by vibrant colors and a variety of lights that draw children’s eyes and enable them to enjoy the place.

    Dr. Chadi Chamoon, Dean of the College of Design also beamed with pride. “ We are very pleased that our students have achieved this level of confidence in their work. This is success and it is clear through their work and it’s thoughtfulness.” he said.

    “The production process is very intricate and every part of the process has its own joy. Not only that, but creativity is a necessity of life and we are proud that our students have done their best to share their imagination and have reached the desired goal,” he added.

    Sundus Maher, another participant, expressed her gratitude at being part of this exhibition. She restructured Abu Dhabi women’s design in a way that suits women and provides them with the comfort and opportunity to think creatively in a space they feel at ease. The idea of ​​the project revolved around the importance of motivating all women to proactively resolve their problems, to communicate and find the time to reflect on the most important topics in their lives. The project also offered treatment rooms, beauty parlors and a fitness center.

    At the end of the opening, Prof. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of AUE, honored the participating students by awarding them with monetary prices and to honor their immense dedication, the university shield to encourage them to continue their efforts in achieving greater successes.

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates,February 21st 2019: American University in the Emirates, the UAE’s leading university offering unique courses, opened doors to its first Innovation lab at the campus located in Dubai Academic city in the presence of Her Excellency Engr Anwaar Al Shimari, Chief Innovation and AI Officer – Ministry of Infrastructure Development. The university aims to play a vital role in securing the UAE’s mission to encourage Innovation and enhancing global competitiveness. The launch was seen attended by officials from Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dr. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the Emirates and the respected faculty and students.

    This Innovation lab will be the focal point that brings together various college like Business Administration, Law, Mass Communication and more. Not only will it shine light on the opportunities for students to exchange ideas and skills, but it will also promote a space that is known for instilling critical and logical thinking, problem solving techniques and innovative campaigns.

    Professor Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the UAE, expressed his delight at yet another success: “At American University in the Emirates, we are working together to create a successful and creative generation of students. We encourage and support them in every way possible – emotionally, morally and now physically – by providing spaces which allows them to practice creativity and implement any innovative ideas in their academic projects. Excellence, constructive thoughts and ability to think outside the box all come together in AUE’s Innovation Center.”

    Dr. Ahmed Nofal Al Masri, Director of the Research and Innovation Office at the American University in the Emirates said, “We are so happy to finally celebrate this opening of the Innovation lab. The idea is to have a platform that serves our student’s creativity and aids in creating distinguished and unique projects. We are sure that our students will benefit and continue to think outside the box, in both their academic and personal lives.” The university slogan “Nothing is Impossible” spells out the institutes endearing belief in great ideas, dedicated efforts, and creativity. The AUE faculty and leaders have long envisioned an industry and broader community, where students are free and encouraged to think differently.

    The opening of the Innovation lab included a robot presentation that welcomed Her Excellency Engr. Anwaar Al Shimari, Chief Innovation and AI Officer – Ministry of Infrastructure Development. This presentation provided an overview on the advancement in technology and artificial intelligence, thus highlighting the biggest achievement in the field of Innovation and development. To add to this, some student work was also displayed that laid the importance of this Center of Innovation. A computer program titled(Criminal Production), was created with the idea to help the police to find the criminals by visually recording and uploading photos on the program to evaluate facial expressions using features like distance between the eyes and nose or scratches that are on the skin. In addition to projects, there were manual displays prepared by a student with the aim of using modern technologies such as Laser Cutter, 3D printing and wood burning machine, which are all used to reduce environmental pollution, a main problem faced in the present era.

    American University in the Emirates is also preparing to launch and modify programs from September 2019 that will ensure students have a few extra hours as part of their routine lectures, to enable them to think freely, and open themselves to creativity and enhanced innovation.

    Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Faisal Al Qasimi and Sheikha Roda Bint Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the American University in the Emirates organized its annual cancer awareness campaign. With an aim of educating and creating awareness about the disease amongst a large segment of youngsters, the university stressed on the importance of periodic checks and examinations during the campaign. This was sponsored and attended by organizations like Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Police. The audience also included Dr. Hamdan bin Muslim Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority and students from various age groups.

    Highlighting more about this campaign President of American University in the Emirates, Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq said: “We feel accomplished and indeed very delighted to host the cancer awareness campaign against cancer yet again this year. Previously there were only a few educational institutions that engaged in such events, however, today about forty institutions in various fields of education, health, culture and community have stepped closer towards this cause with us.”

    The campaign included a number of student activities including school visits, presentations from the police academy and sports competitions by cancer survivors.

    American University in the Emirates is keen to adopt such events that raise awareness on key issues. The goal is to provide more knowledge on the serious health care hazard and contribute to raising the health levels in the country. In line with the belief, the university honored the organizer for the event, including Dr. Ali Samaka and the administrative and teaching staff involved in a successful campaign.

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 26th February: American University in the Emirates held its first edition of the Media forum yesterday at the campus in Dubai Academic city. The panel, organized by the university’s College of Media and Communication, focused on the power of media, the various trends seen in the media industry and the future of the media industry and business. The event saw leading names from the region join in as the honorary audience and panelists. Respected government officials, local journalists, entrepreneurs were seen to join a number of media professionals at the event.

    Prominent speakers included  Emirati director and actor Habib Ghuloom, Media Real Estate Expert Mohanad Al Wadiya, President of the Economic Forum for Sustainable Development, Prof. Manahel Thabet, Initiative Manager at Mohammed Bin Rashed Smart Majlis, Mohamed AlFalasi, Iraqi Presenter and Producer Mays Anbar and Life Coach and Presenter Mais Mohammed.

    The forum began with a welcome speech by Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President and Dean of the American University in the Emirates. “We are all well-aware of the importance of media in our day-to-day lives. It also has a major role to play in influencing the young minds. Not restricted to TV and radio alone, today media has a world of its own, its secrets, and fundamentals. Today it is a changed reality, with greater audience reach, more influence over people, through platforms like YouTube, Instagram amongst more, which do bring about a unique perception of various subjects and result in radical changes in our beliefs.”

    “We must pay attention to the media colleges, research on existing media issues, the growing power of social media and the use of quality content, with inspirations and ideas that can be followed by our youth and help them in decision making.” He added.

    The media forum also highlighted a number of key topics from the power media has over people now to the change from traditional media outlets to the much popular influencer marketing, Regional Instagram influencers and media personalities, presenter Mays Anber, life coach Mais Mohammed, presenter Asallah Kamel were seen to discuss various elements to the topic.

    American University in the Emirates, founded in 2006, is known as a leading educational institutions. The university with a motto that says “Nothing is impossible” is keen to bring about awareness in regards to the changing media scene.     17th March, United Arab Emirates – Dubai:  American University in the Emirates held the annual Global Day 2019. “Tolerance Festival” named by the university this year in line with the UAE’s decision to strengthen the nation’s role of encouraging stability and prosperity in the region. A two-day event which brought together both the Arab and International cultures in a fun event. With poetry, singing, painting, artwork and food, the event was highlighted by an exciting concert by the star Hatem Iraqi.

    Professor Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the UAE, said: ” Global day and similar activities are so important and helps bring about that love for cultures in the young minds. It is more than just a fun gathering, an entertainment outlet. It is us exchanging cultures and ideas, to grow together and instill the framework of team and cultural diversity in our students.”

    “Although this event is held every year, but we are both pleased and pleasantly surprised at the creativity of our students who come up with better ideas every passing  year. This year we are so honored and eager to have welcomed singing sensation Hatem Iraqi who not only made the evening special with his voice by also brought a smile to the faces in the crowd.” He added.

    Among the many students that participated in the Global Day (Tolerance Festival) agenda, Students Alia Al-Humeiri and Noor Khalid from the UAE pavilion expressed how the participation this year is unique and an intrinsic experience for them. The students mentioned that the idea of Tolerance adopted by the UAE is aimed at bringing into light traditions and heritage of the UAE too, as these traditions and culture is what guides us to be tolerant and cooperative. The girls had designed a white tree that allowed students and visitors to write their opinions and understanding of the word “tolerance”. Other students like Zainab Amr spoke about her participation in the Egypt pavilion, with the new idea of tolerance being implemented this year, gave a lot of scope of designing and bringing something new but with a deep meaning behind it. They designed T-shirts with the slogan “The Good People”. They went on to express their ideology behind the T-shirt. “Everyone really deserves to wear this T-shirt regardless of the different nationalities and religions and color of our skins. In the end, we are all good humans and have the same heart beating. We all have our families and our loved ones. Every nation has good people.”

    The Festival of Tolerance represented many countries. The students participated to put up stalls from countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Iraq, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

    AT THE 48 HOUR NON-STOP FINTECH HACKATHON

    AUE Finance Students from College of Business Administration (COBA) took part in the Fintech Hackathon 2.0 on April 25, 26 and 27 organized by Department of Fin

    ance (DOF) AbuDhabi in cooperation with BeMyApp from France. Students developed “apps” for DOF for Budgeting solutions based on Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Internet of Things (IoT). A total of 14 students from AUE/COBA took pa

    rt in this Hackathon with a total of 13 teams consisting of 3-5 members. Each team pitched for 3 minutes in front of a Jury consisting of Excellencies from Department of Finance (AbuDhabi); H.E Shareefa Saeed Salem Al Jaberi and H.E Abdulaziz Hareb Al Yousuf and other Dignitaries from the Industry. All the AUE students did the presentations on behalf of their teams.

    All students received Certificates of Attendance and Appreciation from DOF. Winning teams were also called by the AdbuDhabi Global Markets the following day for presentations.

    20th June 2019, Dubai, United Arab Emirates:Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Tolerance, and In line with the Year of Tolerance, the American University in the Emirates held its 9th commencement ceremony at the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Center. The evening included VIP guests like Sheikh Rashid Bin Khalifa Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, His excellency Muhammad Bin Bduwah Al Darmaki, the University’s patron, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, Chairman of Board of Trustees, and Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the University along with the respected select media and influencers, faculty, parents, alumni and students.

    The graduation celebrated the success of students graduating both masters and undergraduate courses. A total of 500 students graduated this year, with both undergraduate and master’s degrees from the seven colleges at AUE, like the College of Media and Mass Communication, the College of Design, College of Business Administration, Computer and Information Technology, College of Law, College of Education and  College of Security and Global Studies.

    The ceremony began with a flag hosting followed by an inspiring speech by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance. “I would like to congratulate the American University in the Emirates on it’s 9th commencement ceremony. As we celebrate the Year of Tolerance together,  we would like to extend our appreciation to the University and it’s keen mission to become a pioneer in representing this concept of tolerance, peace and brotherhood. One of the bigger achievements of our late founding father, May his soul rest in peace, was to bring about tolerance in the nation without any discriminations.  This is evident by the values followed across the country today – treating all people with respect, dignity and providing equal opportunities to one and all. “

    His Excellency Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees also expressed his delight. “Truly a day of great joy and celebration as our university celebrates the Year of Tolerance initiated by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, President of the United Arab Emirates. The concept of tolerance for all represents the principles followed by the Late founding father of the UAE. It entails his values and explains all of his achievements. “

    The university extended its gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan for his presence at the graduation ceremony and his generous gesture from His Excellency to enjoy and share the joy with the graduates and their families. The ceremony ended with popular folk dancing performances and various dances presented by the students to the audience expressing their happiness and success.

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24th September 2019: Students at American University in the Emirates celebrated Saudi’s 89th National Day on Monday, 23rd September as an expression of their love for KSA and strengthen the bonds between the two countries. Celebrations showcased the UAE’s brotherhood with the nation and unite with Saudi students to show their patriotism.

    Prof. Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the Emirates congratulated Saudi national students and expressed his wishes for the nation. “The love for your homeland is a splendid thing, it cannot always be expressed in words, but it shows in the hearts of the people and the wishes from their loved ones. UAE loves Saudi Arabia and at AUE we wanted to celebrate this day with our country.”

    The shared slogan ‘Azkam Ezna’ and ‘Dar Al Wahda’ and flags of both UAE and KSA, decorated the campus. Students participated in fun activities, rejoicing the successes of both nations; AUE student, Ahmed Al Dossary unveiled a special portrait on this occasion.     Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 8th October: American University in the Emirates has signed a memorandum of understanding ‘MOU’ with American multinational information technology company, Hewlett Packard Middle East at the Gitex Technology Week (running from October 6th to 10th). The MOU was signed by Dr. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, President of the American University in the Emirates and Wolfgang Egger representing the Hewlett Packard Middle East. The collaboration is to join hands for a next-generation innovation center called the HPE Digital Life Garage to be established by Hewlett Packard Middle East in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

    The university, founded in 2006, aims to play a vital role in securing the UAE’s mission to encourage Innovation and enhancing global competitiveness. With a motto that says “Nothing is impossible”, the university is keen to bring about awareness in regards to the importance of enhancing technology and innovation in building successful communities. With seven unique colleges like College of Business Administration, Law, Mass Communication, Information Technology, Fashion and Design, College of Global Securities and College of Education, this collaboration will just shine light on the potential opportunities for students, but it will help facilitate and focus on innovative solutions expected to positively impact life and society, based on digital innovation.

    Dr.Muthanna expressed his delight with this association. “At AUE we want to be part of projects that are unique and allow our students and faculty to be involved in technology focused growth. We are committed to supporting our students’ goals to be one of the most innovative institutions in the UAE.”

    With the presence of this Innovation Center, the American University in the Emirates along with Hewlett Packard wish to establish a revolutionary innovation center in Dubai, aiming to accelerate the development of the UAE’s innovation ecosystem and bring faster returns to the society, in alignment with Smart Nation and other national programs. The Center, HPE Digital Life Garage, will host collaboration activities that will involve UAE Government entities, local companies (start-ups and established businesses), research partners, other relevant players, along with HPE partners to identify opportunities for innovation and define and demonstrate prototypes and/or Proof of Value on selected cases.

    The university will participate by supplying some resources that can support the operation of the Center and maximize its returns. The students and faculty will also be actively contributing to co-developing solutions and assist with building blocks to be used in the Center’s activities and potential projects, as a combination of each player’s capabilities

    The Center will include amongst other things, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things, and Smart Cities. Advanced HPE’s and partners’ technologies will provide the enabling platforms, allowing UAE innovators to fully harness new technology and develop their capabilities.

    United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 20 October 2019: American University in the Emirates celebrated their honorary students from various colleges over a three-day long ceremony. A total of 303 students from both undergraduate and graduate colleges were hosted and received appreciation and praises from the university for their continued efforts during the course of the academic year. The event saw the President of the AUE, Prof. Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, deans of the college, faculty members, administrative staff as well as students and their families join in to celebrate the occasion with AUE.

    “It brings me great joy and pride as I stand before our outstanding students today to honor their efforts. Determination and will power is the key to success and I am extremely happy that our students at AUE have recognised and used this policy in actual rather than just using it as a phrase!” said Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq

    “It is very important for us as educators and guides to encourage our students through facilitating healthy competition, and simultaneously motivate them to work consistently until they achieve their desired goal.” he added.

    The number of outstanding students from various colleges were divided between undergraduate and graduate with 101 students for the undergraduate program and 202 for graduate program respectively. The top colleges in terms of the maximum number of outstanding students were: the College of Security and Global Studies, followed by the College of Business Administration, College of Law. and finally the College of Computer Information Technology.
