    American University in the Emirates (AUE) has signed a strategic agreement with Reporters Training and Production array (Reporters) which is the first of its kind in the private sector across the Arab World and the Middle East to provide innovative training packages according to highest international standards in order to qualify media students to enter the job market and empower them in professional production when they join media institutions.

    The agreement follows the call for innovation launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler and his declaration of the year 2016 to be the year of innovation. It also follows on the footsteps of the 2nd Knowledge Summit that was recently held in Dubai.
    Prof. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, President and CEO of AUE stressed the importance of this agreement saying that: “The University is engaged in attracting best practices that provide an added value to the academic side through bridging the gap between theory and practice in academic curricula in general and the media curricula in particular due to its particular need for pioneering and innovation in a rapidly changing world”. Prof. Abdul Razzaq added that: “AUE will continue to pursue innovative ways to provide its students distinction in a job market intensively contested by new entrants”.
    In this regard, Mr. Ahmad Al Ibrahim, cofounder and CEO of Reporters said that: “The main objective of the agreement is enriching the media scene with talented elements that are able to produce professionally right from the first day on the job” adding that:” The agreement fulfills an integral foundation of Reporters that is the professional and social responsibilities by meeting the changing requirements of the job market and educational outputs because media institutions require qualified professionals capable of production, analysis and innovation”
    On a similar note, Dr. Nabil Al Jardi, VP for Academic Affairs, AUE said that: “This agreement will enhance the practical side for our media students and will equip them with unique field experiences enabling them to start their aspirated professional careers by joining the media and mass communication programs”
    On the other hand, Mr. Mosaab Rashid, Head of Training Department, Reporters said that: “The agreement will open the way for the media and mass communication students to benefit from the world-class facilities and latest technologies and systems at Reporters and equipping them with unique expertise as well as to provide them with an opportunity to interact with best media trainers”; adding that:”Reporters training system is built on empowering the trainees to be professionally skilled with prevalent systems in the Audio Visual media channels and newsrooms the most prominent of which are iNews and Media Composer for producing news and programming content”.
    It is worthy to mention that the agreement will begin at the commencement of the new year 2016 and will benefit about 400 students annually. The agreement covers the different specializations of media and mass communication. The university intends to turn field training into a compulsory requisite for all its academic programs.

    The American University in the Emirates was delighted with the visit of the Chair of the Board of Trustees of American University of Afghanistan, Dr. Akram Fazel today, September 19th, 2015.

    _dsc5362aThe President of American University in the Emirates (AUE), Prof. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq  along with the University Provost and the Director of International Office welcomed Dr. Akram Fazel and expressed their immense pleasure and strong support for each other.

    The President of AUE, briefly presented the key contributes of the university and expressed to extend support to the Afghanistan region and the students in need to further higher education.

    “Prof. Razzaq briefed Dr Fazel that as part of its social service goals, AUE is currently offering scholarships to the needy and deserving students from Afghanistan, who are aspiring for higher education. This collaboration will strengthen the relationship  between the AUE & AUAF by helping and supporting each other’s goal for the welfare of the students and the both the esteemed institutions as a whole,” he further added.

    The meeting concluded with exchanging thoughts on signing an affiliation agreement for the purpose of joint training, faculty, students exchange and joint research for the development of the region.

    The Professional Master of Sports Law students of the College of Law, have organized a seminar entitled “Sport between Criminalization of Drugs and Prohibition of Doping”, in June, 16th 2015, under the coverage of Dubai Sports Channel. The seminar was presented in two lectures, presented by Mr. Khalid Al Sumaiti, Deputy Manager of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, and Mr. Saleh Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of the Dubai Drug District, and dealt with all aspects of doping and drugs, their damaging effect on the society, and the solutions pursued by the United Arab Emirates to eliminate drugs, followed by an open discussion. The University Management and students were present in the Seminar.

    mainIt was yet another proud moment for AUE and moment of  great pride and privilege for Maryam Mohammed bin Hammad, one of the outstanding graduate from the Master of Arts in Security and Strategic Studies of the College of Media and Mass Communication. Ms. Maryam who scored highest  GPA in the Program was invited for Iftar by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai along with other outstanding students from various universities.

    “It was an amazing experience to have a brief conversation with the Prime Minister of the country and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, who inspired me with his vital and vibrant presence and motivated me to further my education,” said, Ms Maryam while sharing her experience.

    The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AUE, His Excellency, Mohammed Bin Bduwah Al Darmaki, the Deputy Chairman, Mr Khalaf Al Qubaisi, the President, Prof. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, along with all AUE members congratulated Ms Maryam, stating that Ms Maryam’s achievement is indeed motivational for other students, especially the female students, who should come forward to serve the nation, upon gaining academic and professional competence ensured by the University.

    The symbols probably seems foreign to most of us, but it won’t be for our students from Fashion major, who are currently representing AUE in Thailand!
    A Collaboration between the Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai and Dubai office of Tourism Authority of Thailand,has given the opportunity to 3 of our Fashion Major students to attend the “Thai Fabric Workshop and Study Trip” in Thailand. The program is designed to enhance cultural experience for fashion design students and enable them to gain an insight of the local way of living, as well as take part in numerous activities that will give the students a new perspective of a culture that is different than their own.
    The students are expected to gain lots of knowledge in their 9 day trip from the (17th of April to the 26th).The main objective of the tour is to grab attention of the beauty of Thai fabric and different ways in which it could be used and incorporated into our local designs. This experience will contribute to the expansion of cultural and educational ties between Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
    As part of the learning experience the fashion students are keeping us updated with the happenings of their exciting trip from day one and the girls have already started their educational tour to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles!
    Such educational trips not only provides international exposure to the students but also enhances students’ knowledge of contemporary practices in their respective disciplines

    To address the emerging needs of the region in Higher Education, the American University in the Emirates proudly announces a number of scholarships for the Fall 2015-2016 semester.
    “This is a major initiative to encourage students of all nationalities to opt for higher education and serve UAE, says the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency Mohammad Saleh Bin Bduwah Al Darmaki, while announcing 50 scholarships to students of all nationalities with high academic standing amounting approximately AED10 Million, for both Undergraduate and Graduate enrollments”.
    Such scholarships are available on highly competitive basis, including ≥ 90% grades, screening interviews and other test scores.

    Committed to the values of American University in the Emirates (AUE) to improve quality of life, team work and partnership for common goal, AUE Guidance and Counseling Center in partnership with Monster.com and DIAC Student Hub provided a career workshops for university students and graduates last March 5, 2015 held in Block 12 Conference Hall Knowledge Village. Different students and graduates from different universities attended the workshops.

    The International Conference on Technology and Business Management (ICTBM-15) in association with the International Forum of Management Scholar was hosted by AUE again for the third time from March 23rd to 26th, 2015.

    The inaugural session was graced by the presence of the President & Conference Patron Prof. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq along with other dignitaries from UAE and abroad. The conference patron, Prof. Razzaq welcomed the delegates with his brief and inspirational talk and stated that the University is committed to support the individuals and colleges in developing their research plans and invites universities in making significant, fundamental contributions to the economic, social and cultural development of the country.
    The Director of Partner Relations, Education Cluster TECOM Investments, Mr. Michael Trivette shared his thoughts on “ Innovation in Higher Education” followed by the key note speech of Mr. Ron Thomas, the CEO of Great Place to Work on a very interesting and debatable topic of “Technology: The Driver of the New Business Model”. The vibrant presence of Mr Thomas and his thought provoking presentation focused on the wide role of technology and its overall importance in business.

    The conference witnessed a total of 62 delegates from various countries (USA, UK, Japan, Korea, UAE, Kuwait, Iran and India) and more than 82 research papers’ presentation that was accepted from a total of 131 research papers received, stated the Director of International Office and the Co-Chair of the conference, Dr. Singh.

    The representative of International Forum of Management Scholar and Co-Chair of the conference Prof. S. K. Agrawal thanked AUE for their continued support to such academic initiative. Dr. Agrawal also thanked all the delegates for the great success of the conference and with great optimism for the next ICTBM the valedictory session concluded on March 26th, 2015.

    Competition Winner Mahaba Ahmed Abuhatab was invited by Jaguar MENA on a once in a lifetime trip to the United Kingdom for an unforgettable experience at the Jaguar Land Rover Global Headquarters. The CFAD student visited the iconic factory and design studio as part of the Jaguar Design XE Competition that took place earlier this year.
    Developed to challenge university students to ‘unleash their creativity’ by designing their own piece of art inspired by the stunning Jaguar XE, the Design XE competition resulted in five winners who were selected based on their artwork creativity, technique and potential as aspiring artists and designers from the region.
    A visit to the Jaguar Heritage Museum in Gaydon kicked off the trip as the winners got a closer look at the British brand’s unique collection of beautiful heritage vehicles. Travelling in a fleet of Jaguar vehicles throughout the UK, the winners experienced the stunning performance, class-leading design and innovative technology that Jaguar vehicles offer. The trip also offered an exclusive insight into the level of craftsmanship, design and innovation at the heart of the brand.
    Given a rare chance to go behind closed doors, the artists also visited the Jaguar Design Studio and the Jaguar Factory in Solihull, spending quality time with the Jaguar Design Team and engineers.
    This participation is the result of CFAD cooperation and activities with industry, integrating students into a growing visual art and design industry, promoting their creativity, and exposing students to global design trends.

    The American University in the Emirates (AUE) conducted a 3 days ‘International Conference on National Capacity Building Strategy for Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation’. The conference organized from May 26th – May 28th, 2015 at the AUE, Dubai International Academic City in Dubai attracted more than 135 registrations from all over the world and with more than 110 presenters.
    The topics of global interest had engaging, meaningful discussions, debates providing a vibrant and conducive environment for innovative thoughts on tacking global issues such as youth unemployment, impedance to economic growth, sustainability, scalability, poverty, empowerment and the UN Millennium Development Goals. The key note speeches included world class academicians who stressed the need for moving from policies to implementation or from the laboratories to the fields, emphasizing the availability and pervasiveness of technology that could provide means and ways of solving many of the problems discussed at the conference. Many of the hotly debated topics presented at the conference were multidisciplinary providing new ways of looking at issues such as poverty and sustainability.
    The conference was organized jointly by Scholar link Research Institute (SRI) Manchester, UK and witnessed huge participation equally from AUE faculty members and students, apart from the delegates around the world.
